Horse Activities and Events This Weekend, May 6 - 8, 2011

Holy Smokes!  What a great weekend for horse activities!  Sorry, horse peeps -- you won't be able to go to all of them.  But pick out one or two and go have fun!

 

May 7-8: NYSMHS Dressage Clinic with Michelle LaBarre

Michelle studied in Karlsruhe, Germany with Herr Egon von Neindorff.  She learned the importance of having a correct riding position, the dynamic nature of contact and how critical swift and well-timed aids are.  Overall, she works with the horse and rider to develop a better understanding of the Training Scale. Michelle is known for her consistent and knowledgeable training, so take advantage of this unique, pre-show season opportunity to fine tune all your leg-yields, twenty meter circles, and half-halts. May 7:Twin Tier Trail Riders Connecitut Hill Ride
·         Parking at the Old Archery Grounds off Carter Creek Rd.
·         All Rides start at 10:00 a.m.

May 7-8: Bill McMullin Dressage Clinic
Leysabach Farm, East Syracuse. 
Central NY Dressage and Combined Training Association is pleased to present periodic Dressage clinics with Bill McMullin in 2011(another will be held June 18-19).  A USDF Instructor through 4th level, Bill is an articulate instructor who melds exercises into all levels to produce great rider/horse improvement. He has been involved in the USDF Instructor Certification program for 15 years and is a USEF “r” Dressage Judge and USDF Silver Medalist. Based at Cutler Farm, Medfield, MA. Bill and his partner, Bill Warren (Warren-McMullin Dressage) divide their busy training, clinic and showing schedule between MA and Wellington, FL. They compete on a regular basis at all levels for their clients and work regularly with top international clinicians like George Williams and Conrad Schumacher.

May 7: DRESSAGE CLINIC & FIX-A-TEST with Patricia Brosious

About the event - Day begins with morning mounted clinic sessions with the judge.  You will school and discuss the in’s & out’s of the new 2011 USEF dressage tests.  Groups will be level based, hour sessions.  Fix-a-Test rides will begin after the clinic sessions.

What is a Fix-a-Test?  You will ride your dressage test of choice in front of the judge, and receive a score and feedback from the judge.  Then you work through difficult areas of the test with some instructions and re-ride the test.  Rider will receive a scored test sheet with the “Before” and “After” scores and comments.  Each session is approximately 30 minutes (tests may be called).

Fees - Cost for members is $20 for clinic session, $30 for fix-a-test or $45 for both.  Non-members $30 clinic, $40 fix-a-test or $55 for both.  The fees for “both” include your clinic session, test ride with instruction and test re-ride.  We also encourage you to audit the sessions and all the day’s rides.  $10 fee for non-riding auditors (bring a chair!).  Auditors under 12 are free. 

A NTCTA Pecos Bill Chicken BBQ Fundraiser Will be held from 11-1 during the clinic (no participation necessary). Ticket cost $9.00 per meal.  We encourage you to reserve tickets in advance.

All Arabian, Half-Arabian Horse Show - Free admission, free parking - Family friendly - Classes for all ages. Featuring - Hunter, Pleasure, Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Country English Pleasure, Sport Horse, Dressage, Halter, Trail, Driving and Leadline. The general public is always welcome!
